American Bobtail

#7 American Bobtail

Naturally, this breed is most noted for its naturally bobbed tail. Despite the naming similarity, they are not at all related to the Japanese Bobtail. American Bobs are very sturdy and they can be either long or short-haired. Like most large breeds of cat, they take longer to mature (about three years). Their chest is very broad and their hips are almost as wide as their chest meaning that their hindquarters are impressively strong. They also have a wide nose and matching jaw that’s strength is above average. They typically weigh about sixteen pounds but can grow to be heavier and larger. They are playful and social cats and are also very clever and intelligent.
