People generally associate the purr of a cat or kitten as contentment. This can range from a loud, motor-like sound, to the soft rumbling of a sleeping cat. A purring cat is saying; “life is good and I’m happy.” However, there are also times when a cat will purr due to illness or worry. If you notice your cat is acting differently at certain times (like the dog is back from its walk and is going to chase your cat around the house) then you know this purr is out of worry, not enjoyment. The same goes for a sick cat. Learn to read your cat’s overall body language and physical well-being to know the difference.
