American Curl

From their names to their appearances, these breeds are cool in many different ways and no two are alike. When choosing a cat to be your new companion, consider one of these awesome breeds instead of something more common.

American Curl

This breed is cool for one main reason, its ears. An American Curl’s unusual ears curl backwards away from their face and towards the middle of their head. Though tempting to touch and play with, you must remember to be delicate with their ears because the cartilage is very sensitive and easily damaged. This breed originated in California by way of a random genetic mutation and is an otherwise normal breed. This is a mid-sized breed that weighs about 5 to 10 pounds and doesn’t fully mature until about they’re about 3 years old. What is even more interesting about this breed is that as kittens, their ears are straight. The curl doesn’t occur until they’re about 2 to 3 months old and will stop curling when they reach about 4 months old. Despite their delicacy, their ears will feel firm to the touch but still require care when handling.
