#5 Maine Coon
A Maine Coon can grow to be up to seventeen pounds on average (some have been reported to grow to twenty-five pounds) and has a very distinct physical appearance. They are known as the “gentle giants” of the cat world thanks to their stocky build, rectangle body, and long, silky coat. Their coat varies in color with very few exceptions and they are also known, like the Ragdoll, for being dog-like in personality. They’re also very tall cats and can grow to be up to forty-eight inches in height. They take around four years to fully mature and typically have a long-haired coat. They’re also adapted to harsh winter climates and have water-resistant fur and large, cushioned paws for dealing with snow and ice.
